High potential and gifted education (HPGE)
At Campbell House School, we recognise that every student has unique strengths and ways of learning.
Some students learn more quickly, think more deeply, or show exceptional ability in areas such as creativity, problem-solving, leadership, or sport.
We are committed to identifying and nurturing this potential early. Through engaging lessons, targeted support and rich opportunities, we help all students, including those with advanced learning needs, to grow, thrive and achieve success.
What is high potential and gifted education?
High Potential and Gifted Education (HPGE) is how we support students with advanced learning needs across the four domains of potential: intellectual, creative, social-emotional, and physical.
At Campbell House School, this means:
- Using enrichment, extension and acceleration strategies in teaching and learning
- Providing tailored support that stretches and challenges students at their level
- Offering a wide range of opportunities within and beyond the classroom to develop their interests and talents

Our high potential and gifted education opportunities
Students at Campbell House School engage in HPGE programs and opportunities in the classroom, across our school, and through statewide initiatives.
HPGE is embedded in our everyday practice. Teachers design learning experiences that are adaptive, strengths-based and differentiated to meet the needs of all learners. This includes:
- Individualised planning and support aligned to student goals
- Differentiated tasks that adjust pace, complexity and depth of thinking
- Formative assessment to monitor progress and guide next steps
- An adaptive daily reading program that supports growth and achievement
- Supportive learning environments that foster curiosity, exploration and self-assessment
- Strengths-based feedback and goal setting
- Leadership opportunities within the classroom and project-based learning
- Safe, encouraging spaces where students can take risks and build resilience
Students can further explore their strengths and interests through a variety of whole-school and extension opportunities, including:
- Incursions and excursions linked to the HPGE domains and student interests
- Sporting gala days and Zone competitions
- Weekly Project Day (Years 7–10) focused on interest-based, hands-on learning
- Hilltop Junior AECG for leadership, voice and cultural learning
- Student Representative Council and peer leadership roles
- Micro-credentials and TAFE qualifications in specialist areas
- Whole-school wellbeing and inclusion initiatives that celebrate student strengths
Students also have access to broader opportunities beyond our school community, including:
- Distance Education courses for specialist subjects or unique interests
- The Premier’s Sporting Challenge (PSC), which promotes leadership and active lifestyles
- Statewide enrichment programs and creative challenges coordinated through the Department of Education
