External Service Providers
At Campbell House School, we work closely with families to ensure every student receives the right support to learn, grow, and thrive.
Sometimes this means involving specialist professionals from outside the school, such as therapists funded through the NDIS or other programs.
External providers can play an important role in supporting your child’s learning and wellbeing. However, they do not have automatic access to work on school grounds.
All requests must be made in writing by a parent or carer, allowing the school to ensure that the support is safe, appropriate, and in the student’s best interests.
What does outside support mean?
Outside support refers to professional help provided by someone who is not employed by the school.
This may include:
- Assessments or therapy – such as psychology, speech, or occupational therapy
- Health services – counselling or medical support not available within the school
- Agency support – help with behaviour, communication, or social development
These services complement what the school already provides to support each child’s individual goals.
Because Campbell House School finishes at 1:40 p.m., families are encouraged to arrange external appointments after school hours, so therapies can occur in the early afternoon without impacting attendance or learning time.
How the process works for parents and carers
Parents or carers submit a written request for external support, explaining how the service aligns with their child’s RISE Plan goals.
A Parent Consent Form must also be completed and returned to the school office.
The Learning and Support reviews each request to ensure it meets Department of Education guidelines and supports the student’s educational needs.
If approved, an information and paperwork pack will be provided to the external provider.
Once all documentation is complete, the school will confirm approval and arrange suitable times for support sessions.
Therapy cannot begin until written approval is provided by the school.
Your role in the process
Parents and carers help this process run smoothly by:
- Submitting written requests for external support
- Completing the required consent form
- Informing providers of student absences or school events that may affect sessions
For more information, see the Department’s Parents and carers external provider factsheet
Therapies and in-school access
A limited range of external supports can take place on school grounds, depending on space, supervision, and safety requirements.
Due to the nature of our setting, external providers are generally unable to conduct in-class or playground observations.
However, school staff are able to:
- Complete checklists, questionnaires or observation reports provided by therapists
- Share relevant school-based information to help inform external assessments or programs
- Collaborate on goals and strategies that complement classroom practice
This ensures external therapy aligns with each student’s educational plan while maintaining a safe and consistent environment for all students.
